Enniskillen Amateur Dramatic Society

Enniskillen Amateur Dramatic Society will present "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" by Christopher Hampton at the Ardhowen Theatre on 19, 20 and 21 February 2004 at 8 p.m.

Adapted from the novel by Choderlos de Laclos, Hampton has produced a thrilling stage version which is deliciously wicked and perversely cynical, set in aristocratic France before the Revolution. Played out in the salons and boudoirs of the late 18th century, Hampton charts the seduction of both the young and willing Cecile and the demure yet passionate Madame de Tourvel, by the Vicomte de Valmont.

Together with his former mistress, the Marquise de Merteuil, they scheme to destroy the virtues of this innocent woman. This cold-blooded two-some proceed with this heartless scheme until love unexpectedly alters the course of events.

In the couple of hundred-odd years since the de Laclos novel, "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" has provoked both shock and admiration, its banning by censorship ensuring its success. A play to go and watch, not to be told what you are about to see.
